A new guaianolide from the roots of Valeriana fauriei Briq.

Abstract: Aim To screen sedative constituents from Valeriana fauriei Briq. Result A new guaiane-type compound named as valerianin C was isolated from the roots of Valeriana fauriei Briq. Conclusion The new compound was elucidated as 8α-acetoxyl-3α,4α,10-trihydroxyl-guaia-1(2)-ene-12, 6α-olide on the basis of its NMR data, especially 2D-NMR techniques.
